The infrared microspectroscopy beamline at CAMD and its application in plant–pathogen interactions

چکیده
At the beginning of 2006, the first infrared microspectroscopy beamline at the Louisiana State University, Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices (CAMD) storage ring came into operation. The infrared microscope has recently been upgraded with a new liquid nitrogen-cooled mercury–cadmium–telluride detector, MCT-A, and a new dipole chamber to improve the signal-to-noise ratio and extend the beamline capability to far-IR region. In this contribution, we report first results, by using the microspectroscopy beamline, in the investigation of plant–pathogen interactions: apple–Venturia inaequalis causing scab. The infrared spectra of the healthy plant leaves were compared to those obtained from the infected ones. These spatially resolved data are used to understand the dynamics of physiological modifications, which occur during pathogenesis. r 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. Upgraded varied-line-space PGM beamline at CAMD
The Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices’(CAMD) aging plane-grating soft x-ray monochromator beamline was upgraded to a varied-line-space plane-grating monochromator (VLSPGM) beamline. Preliminary measurements indicate significant performance improvements in both the resolving power and the throughput over its predecessor. However, it was found that the VLSPGM has less than the calcu...
متن کاملInfrared Edge Radiation Beamline at Aladdin
An infrared beamline has been constructed at the 800 MeV electron storage ring, Aladdin. The beamline is located downstream of a short straight section, where it collects edge radiation produced by electrons exiting and entering the bending magnets at the ends of the straight section. Measurements at wavelengths of 1–5 μm suggest that the edge radiation is brighter than standard synchrotron rad...
متن کاملThe Development of the GCPCC Protein Crystallography Beamline at CAMD
The Gulf Coast Protein Crystallography Consortium (GCPCC) is developing a beamline at the LSU/CAMD synchrotron. This beamline will be capable of standard macromolecular multiple-wavelength anomalous diffraction (MAD) phasing experiments over an energy range of 7-17.5 keV. The optical configuration uses a vertical collimating mirror, a channel-cut Si (111) monochromator and a focusing toroidal m...
متن کاملThe First Synchrotron Infrared Beamlines at the Advanced Light Source: Microscpectroscopy and Fast Timing
A set of new infrared (IR) beamlines on the 1.4 bending magnet port at the Advanced Light Source, LBNL, are described. Using a synchrotron as an IR source provides considerable brightness advantages, which manifests itself most beneficially when performing spectroscopy on a microscopic length scale. Beamline (BL) 1.4.3 is a dedicated microspectroscopy beamline, where the much smaller focused sp...
متن کاملOptimization of the 3 m TGM beamline, at CAMD, for constant initial state spectroscopy
The 3 m toroidal grating monochromator (TGM) VUV beamline at CAMD/LSU was realigned to achieve better illumination of the monochromator gratings with the goal of substantially increasing the fl ux at the higher photon energies. This is partly accomplished through a tilting of the monochromator (by about of 13.5°), with respect to the plane defi ned by the synchrotron, providing a smaller grazin...
